The Parts Alliance has continued its strategic growth with the acquisition of motor factor Waterloo (Motor Trade) Ltd.

Waterloo, which has branches in Hull, Beverley and Bridlington, was founded in 1928 by current Managing Director Jim Munday’s grandfather.

It becomes a wholly-owned business within the HgCapital-owned Parts Alliance Group but will continue to trade under its own name, serving customers in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Micheldever Tyre & Auto Services awards new supplier agreement to The Parts Alliance

Micheldever Tyre & Auto Services, one of the fastest growing independent fast fit networks in the UK, has renewed its supplier agreement with The Parts Alliance for a third term.

Recent expansion of its network across the UK provides 98 fast fit and mechanical centres offering a full range of tyres for car, motorcycle and agricultural vehicles as well as MOT testing and car servicing for all makes and models.

The new contract, worth over £8 million, will run until the end of 2018 and appoints The Parts Alliance for the supply of all vehicle parts, covering Braking, Steering and Suspension, Emission and Service Repair products.

Mark Harley, Retail Operations Director for Micheldever Tyre Services Ltd, said: “The Parts Alliance has the largest network for automotive parts distribution. They supply a full range of OE Quality products and deliver hourly to our centres, which is vital to our business and has helped us provide our customers with outstanding service.”

The Parts Alliance national service from over 160 locations is enhanced to over 300 distribution sites through its strategic partnership with the IFA which was established in 2015. The alliance created a major force within the automotive aftermarket, offering National customers the largest parts distribution network, with quality OE branded products supplied from over 3,000 delivery vehicles.

The Parts Alliance’s annual sales are over £500 million, with the IFA annual sales in excess of £250 million. This provides their customers reassurance in a changing market place on the stability of both groups and provides a united approach for National Account contracts.

Though The Parts Alliance and the IFA collaborate closely on National Accounts, they  retain their independence for procurement and supply to independent garages and workshops, offering them a choice through their established local brands and service.

The new Autumn 2016 issue of Garage Essentials will be made available through all members of the Parts Alliance. Garage Essentials, originally used by GSF to showcase their quality garage equipment and tooling, has recently merged with Toolchest, a similar publication created by Parts Alliance. Both publications showcase the latest and best of what’s available from the UK’s finest equipment suppliers and brands.

John Wright, Head of Garage Equipment and Customer Development commented “We’ve found that around 85 per cent of the content is similar already between Toolchest and Garage Essentials as we’ve both been actively looking to work with the best suppliers.

It’s clear we can save a lot of time and energy by producing a single publication instead of two, offering suppliers a greater audience and circulation.”

To keep up with demand, Garage Essential’s print run will be extended by 20,000 copies in order to accommodate an increasing amount of Parts Alliance branches.

Nexus achieves over €10 Billion global turnover, present in over 100 countries

Major automotive aftermarket alliance NEXUS Automotive International (N!) has continued its global growth and achieved a record €10 billion in consolidated group turnover.

The figure is €1 billion ahead of expectations outlined in February, when it was hoped to reach €9 billion by the end of 2016.

The milestone will be announced by N! CEO Gael Escribe as member companies from more than 100 countries are due to meet ahead of Automechanika Frankfurt for two days of business ‘connecting’.

Gael said: “Our vision for NEXUS’s place in the global aftermarket is to be a leader and reaching this landmark figure of €10 billion is a major step towards that. NEXUS has been in existence for only two-and-a-half years but through the collective efforts of all in the N! Community we have achieved so much.

“With N! members in more than 100 countries and 60 global supplier contracts in place, NEXUS has the world-wide reach, collective strength and credibility to fulfil our vision of bringing innovation and entrepreneurship on an unprecedented scale to the aftermarket.

“From Sao Paulo to Johannesburg, Birmingham to Barcelona, Dubai to Shanghai, wherever you come from in the world, NEXUS’ ambition is to be the ‘business catalyst’of the aftermarket.”

N! will shortly take a big step forward in China with the establishment of its Chinese representative office in Shanghai. The office will enable N! to be closer to its members and suppliers, facilitate future co-operation and respond quickly to the needs of the China market.

The local team in Shanghai will be supervised by Bas Donders, N! Marketing and Sourcing Director, who has 25 years’ industrial experience.

Gael added that while new membership opportunities would continue to be sought in fast-growing markets, the focus would increasingly be on developing business and projects with existing N! members. Also, having reflected on the vision and objectives of N!, it had been decided not to renew the co-operation agreement with N! Alliance Russia beyond 31 December.
In the meantime, some 140 participants will meet in Frankfurt for the latest round of N! CONNECTING DAYS (12, 13 September) during which they will explore opportunities to develop new business between them. Gael said: “At the end of the day, NEXUS is about creating value for our members. It’s pleasing to see a recently published study shows four out of the top five champions of growth in the French aftermarket were all N! members, as were six out of the top seven for champions of productivity. We would say that’s no random coincidence.”

Fuzz Townshend teams with Autosessive to find UK’s top car enthusiast

The Parts Alliance’s car parts and accessories ecommerce website, Autosessive.com, has teamed up with National Geographic’s Car SOS presenter Fuzz Townshend for a competition to find the UK’s best car enthusiast, the Autosessive Awards 2016.

First launched in 2010 in conjunction with our online retail brand Autosessive, the contest aims to find the country’s most obsessed car fanatic. Be it through their endless dedication to modifying, detailing, touring and collecting, or just their sheer level of auto obsession.

Fuzz, who knows a thing or two about being an Autosessive, is part owner of Westgate Classics in Walsall, a car restoration company that’s also the set for Car SOS.

The competition is a chance for car enthusiasts from across the country to showcase their prized possessions. Previous entrants have included Jonty Wydell, the Yorkshire man who converted his garage into a lounge, all so that he could stare at his Ferrari while his girlfriend watched TV. Plus who could forget Chris Redford, the Volkswagen addict who’s covered from head to toe in tattoos of his beloved brand, and even incorporated the initials VW into his daughter’s name.

The winner will receive £500 worth of parts and accessories to use on their pet project, as well as an Autosessive hamper to keep their vehicle in tip top condition.

Competition entries are being accepting up until Wednesday 31st August 2016, after which the top contenders will be determined by a public vote and a panel led by Fuzz Townshend and the Autosessive team. The winner will be announced in early October.

Recognition for our prowess is gaining momentum, and not only within the automotive industry. Our innovative business model and reputation for customer service has drawn the attention of The Daily Telegraph. Who recently spent the day with us, filming for part of their ‘Business Masterclass’ series.

Impressed with our shrewd acquisitions and commitment to technology, they sat down with CEO Peter Sephton to discuss the growth of the Parts Alliance. He made it clear that our success in this industry stems from our due diligence and unique business philosophy. “The decision making is at the branch level, as it should be, close to our customers.”

By integrating the above with our systems such as AlliCat and Parc, we displayed how we have simplified and improved the process of sourcing parts for garages and private customers alike.

The Parts Alliance exhibits at Automechanika Birmingham

The Parts Alliance was amongst the exhibitors that took part in the first Automechanika Birmingham at the Birmingham NEC between 7th and 9th June. Automechanika exhibitions are held in 15 countries worldwide, with events attracting 600,000 visitors.

Throughout the three day exhibition attendee numbers soared, with 12,000 attending this week’s event, giving us an unrivalled opportunity to do what we do best, interact and exceed expectations.

Our group has grown rapidly over the last year, with significant investment we now supply over 30,000 of the UK and Ireland’s independent workshops, fast fits and other distinguished national accounts. This is due to newly established strategic partnerships, organic growth and acquisitions such as GSF Car Parts, which gives us an unrivalled footprint of over 200 distribution centres. Throughout the course of the three days, it became obvious that our industry leading systems, fast delivery times and return rates are the envy of the aftermarket.

Over 12,000 visitors attended the exhibition in total and their response was overwhelming. Event Director, Simon Albert said: “We are delighted with the success of Automechanika Birmingham. We listened to what the exhibitors and visitors wanted, and with significant investment in the marketing campaign, we delivered an all-encompassing event that exceeded all expectations. Matt Neal gains sponsorship from Parts Alliance & Delphi in this season’s BTCC

Delphi Product and Service Solutions has partnered with the Parts Alliance to sponsor Matt Neal, three times winner of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).

Neal, who was crowned champion in 2005, 2006 and 2011, finished third last year but hopes to achieve a record-equalling fourth title in 2016. He will again be driving a Honda Civic Type R as part of the Honda Yuasa Racing team. Neal made his BTCC debut at Silverstone in 1991, with 2015 marking his 25th year contesting Britain’s biggest motorsport series. In that time he has participated in 583 races, winning 56 from 15 pole positions. He has finished on the podium 155 times and set 47 fastest laps.
